My Quilts

My other Hobby.
In 2000 i decided i wanted to learn to patchwork quilt, so i joined a class with a Patchwork Quilting shop in Richmond, NSW near where i used to live. There i met the loveliest most patient woman named Jeannette. Firstly, she taught me how to hand applique until i was able to buy a sewing machine at the Quilt Show at Rosehill Gardens. I was then on my way. I completed the first quilt, the one i started to hand applique. It was known as a Sampler Quilt and fits a single bed. Since then i have taken on many projects large and small, some with a lot of hand applique while others were only machine sewn. I have completed over 20 projects and at present have 6 quilts in progress. Over the years i have given a number of my quilts away, one as a raffle prize, others as gifts and a couple were "Love Quilts" given to hospitals for parents to wrap around their terminally ill babies.
The smallest item i have made was a pillow & a table mat for my two Aunts. The largest and the most precious and the one which took 4 years to complete is my double bed quilt. It is nearly entirely hand appliqued apart from sewing the different borders together and due to the size i had it professionally machine quilted.
I get a great deal of pleasure and satisfaction when i complete a quilt. I have also entered two of my quilts in the Royal Bathurst Show, one of them was my double bed quilt which took out 2nd prize in its category and i also entered another quilt which won 3rd prize in its category.
I have included photos of some of my quilts that i still own. Some are proudly displayed in my home.
